The Drought… It’s real. I’ve spent the last few months licking my wounds and feeling sorry for myself for not getting out and taking some photos, or not having great conditions etc etc bla bla bla. It started when I drove all the way from Vancouver to Samuel Boardman State Park and came home with nothing. I stopped at the Columbia River Gorge on the way home… and got nothing. I stopped at Columbia Hills State Park and got… NOTHING. This was hands down the worst time I’ve had as a photographer and it really took the wind out of my sails…

The plus to this, was my discovery of low key portrait photography. It’s gotten me really excited about other types of creativity that I can do from home regardless of outside conditions (more on this at a later date) and this has gotten me out of my landscape photography depression. But as any landscape guy will tell you, it’s an itch that can’t be ignored and must be scratched lol. So, for the fuck of it, my buddy Richie Tits (@livingarichlife) and I headed out to Lighthouse Park for a sunrise shoot – And to our pleasant surprise we got some pretty nice light and the whole place to ourselves. (The sun rising at 5:15am certainly helps with that regard.) I still haven’t gotten the perfect shot here yet – I like the light and the composition a lot, but today the tide was a little low for my liking, but it was nice to just go out and shoot without any hang ups or expectations. Shot with my canon 5d mkiv on the 11-24 lens. Pretty sure I had my NiSi polarizer also.
